1. Who we are

This privacy policy describes how BaseChamp (“BaseChamp,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use our website, applications, and related services (the “Service”). BaseChamp helps Pokémon Champions players turn battle recordings into turn-by-turn replays and manage competitive prep. Paid plans are offered through subscriptions processed by Stripe.

2. Information we collect

We collect information in the following categories:

  • Account information. Email address and authentication credentials managed through our auth provider (Stytch). We may also store identifiers that link your account to billing and usage records.
  • Battle content you upload. Battle videos and related filenames you submit for transcription, plus the derived battle logs, timelines, and metadata we generate from them.
  • Usage and technical data. IP address, browser or device information, timestamps, pages or API routes accessed, error logs, and daily usage counts tied to your plan.
  • Payment and subscription data. Stripe processes card and billing details. We receive subscription status, customer and subscription identifiers, plan tier, and related billing events. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.
  • Communications. Messages you send us for support or privacy requests.

3. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Create and secure accounts and authenticate users
  • Provide the Service, including uploading videos, running transcription jobs, storing replays, and enabling sharing when you choose to make a battle public
  • Process subscriptions, enforce plan limits, and manage billing through Stripe
  • Prevent abuse, debug issues, and improve reliability
  • Send transactional messages about your account or jobs
  • Respond to support and privacy requests
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your battle videos to train third-party foundation models.

4. Battle videos, retention, and sharing

Uploaded battle videos are stored in cloud object storage so our systems can process them. After a battle is successfully transcribed, we may delete the original video file while retaining the derived timeline and metadata in our database so you can keep reviewing the replay. We may also delete source videos when you delete a battle.

If you make a battle public, anyone with the share link can view the generated timeline without signing in. Do not publish content you are not comfortable sharing. You can stop public access by changing share settings or deleting the battle where the product allows it.

5. How we share information

We share information with service providers that help us operate BaseChamp, including:

  • Stytch for authentication and session management
  • Stripe for payment processing and subscription management
  • Hosting, database, and object-storage providers that run our application infrastructure

These providers process information on our behalf under their own terms and privacy policies. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

We use local storage and similar browser technologies to keep you signed in and remember session-related state needed for the Service to function. We do not use advertising cookies for third-party ad targeting as part of the core product experience described here.

7. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No internet service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International processing

BaseChamp may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. If you access the Service from another region, your information may be transferred across borders.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You can also cancel a paid subscription through the billing portal in your Profile, subject to Stripe and plan terms.

10. Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
